“I heard a definition once: Happiness is health and a short memory! I wish I'd invented it, because it is very true.”

Yesterday  being Holyday it  was my son’s sports day, when I
Came out in our front yard in afternoon I actually saw the mist  spread all over sides . Now for most people this is sooooo. It's winter lady, it's supposed to be mist. ‘Well not around Delhi it's not’ answered my daughter, when I asked her yesterday. Hisar city of Haryana got extremes of the weather every year.

Being an IAF expat, I grew up strolling in every part of India   experiencing different weather of the   country. We used to spent every vacation at my home town here, so it was no

biggie.   I did have to take pictures to prove I wasn't hallucinating. I am worried   about my little granddaughter Rehana who is so small and enjoying bearable winter weather at her nana’s house, will accompany us here in one or two days.

So I am thinking to make her booties, mittens and cap. That’s why today and yesterday have been my major project day. Still not done anything of the three, but the end is in sight. Will have it done before the end of the weekend. Good thing as I want to make them till Tuesday or Thursday.
My list of projects I want to be playing with is growing and growing. Seems like for every project done, my idea list grows by at least 2. I can't seem to catch up with my ideas.
I do keep telling myself over and over that I will never lack for something to keep me busy.
This morning we saw more mist/haze on the Superstition than we have ever seen. True we have only lived here  many. many.. winters now. But still.
This is looking out my front gate  this morning at 7:00AM when I went out to take News paper for my son   and look at all the snow on his car.
This is the lowest I have seen the mist in our village.
My Dadi used to say actual winter days run from 23rd of December till Feb 5, temperature now is nearing 0 degree..
Ha! Ha! Ha! What a GemSaying!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well with all the crazy weather I thing I need a bright spot in start of my day.

Few and far between but oh so delicate and lovely. Not to mention the corner of my front yard with jasmine flower bush..rather without any flower.

Our Hibiscus, china rose

When we entered this house as the sole owners and trying to collect plants for our front and back yard  I was told( by the plant doctor…yes the gardener in our front park of the locality)  that having a red hibiscus plant growing on your property is considered a sign of   luck in parts of North India and in the Bengal region.  So imagine my disappointment when, these days due to extreme cold near about 3 degree here, our very own red hibiscus plant suffered from a severe attack of this cold and produce very small flowers .

I was   on the hunt for a beautiful bowl, and transformed an olden terracotta bowel embellish it with stones an filled it with water to float the single flower on the plant in it.   Wouldn’t this be fabulous in an entry in our front yard?

We people even spent an entire Sunday afternoon painstakingly wiping off each leaf with spraying water   to wash the accumulated dust of the road.  After a month of suspense, our china rose  sprouted its first flower last week – Hooray!

Here is our bathed flower, along with my daughter’s and niece’s favourite dresses – also featuring our beloved flower – a keepsake photo for both of them :

This flower is termed as MANDARA , as is the mythic Mountain Mandara-that was used to to churn the ocean of milk in the Puranic account of Lord Vishnu’s Kurma Avatar.  It is unclear if there is any link between these 2 terms.

Its me

W.Kandinsky's colour theories,bed room keep-ups

Wassily Kandinsky 'S COLOUR THEORIESIt's unfortunate that most of the color theorists since Chevreul have been abstract painters rather than representational ones. I like to thumb through my Itten, Albers and Kandinsky color books once in a while but I have to admit that they're not very usefull. They are a lot of fun, though. Here just for the heck of it, are a couple of Wassily Kandinsky
According to Kandinsky certain colors (above) have an affinity for certain forms. A dull shape like a circle deserves a dull color like blue. A shape with intermediate interest like a square deserves an intermediate color like red. A dynamic, interesting shape like a triangle deserves an enegetic, luminous, psychotic color like yellow.

A hexagon is midway in interest between a square and a triangle so it gets the midway color it deserves, orange. Toilet cover seats get green.

Lines also have an affinity for certain colors. Bold, dynamic lines like diagonals get a bold color like yellow. Less drastic diagonals get a less drastic color, red. Dead lines that are nearly horizontal get a dead color like black. Slightly active lines like verticals get a dull color like blue.Wassily Kandinsky   even has a theory about coloring lines according to their centrality in the composition. Lines in the middle get yellow. Sad, unloved lines that hug the edge of the frame should get dull colors.

The same goes for angles. Drastic accute angles get drastic colors, more sedate obtuse angles get bland colors like blue.

Ditto curves. Of course a line usually has both drastic and sedate curves and angles and the color of the line changes accordingly.

Here's all these theories in a single painting. Interesting, huh?
