A cozy afternoon and little bit crocheting,sundrying clothes

The coolness and soothing in weather due to yesterday’s rain didn’t last long and with my little grand daughter  off to her nanus(maternal grandfather) until evening there was only one thing to do…crochet little projects

I made three bookmarks to give one away to my daughter’s friend.This was really a fun and quick project to do during a comfortable weather and moments. Hoping these will spur reading of the owners.

My grand daughter earned the first one of the crocheted bookmark and another the fan shaped one, for taking it over to her friend, her family lives just 100 feet away to our house. She had her book mark the little one for drawing book which she needs frequently.

Previously when I made this one in self designed colour, my daughter came in from Delhi. She was so delighted for its beauty and of course it’s her authentic need too. She reads a lottttttttttttt. She is a writer.

She said “mummy you should be a professional crocheter, you would make lots of money (extra money from leisure activities).” Bless her, she’s serious. That is the magical thing about making little things for your children. It doesn’t matter if they are blurry, not perfect or little bit. Your children will always think your creations are the best.

I will rant about …may be in coming post about …..a growing epidemic that not many people are even aware about (as described by my librarian friend). As per my friend many…mannnnnnnnnnnnny of readers came in this library to read are not using proper bookmarks when reading book!!

Yes, I know that is very hard to believe but I myself have seen it with my own eyes. Some people leave behind the library receipt, doctor appointment slips, and papers with names/phone numbers on them, invitation cards, a blank check, photographs, even a candy wrapper.

A big salute to my Jatropa tree for it stood the cold weather for me and profucing these cheerful red flowers non-stopping the whole winter

The past week we have been experiencing almost daily  showers  at small-small intervals. I just love the flowers and all my potted plants with rain drops on, so fresh and lovely
The so called single-petaled Hibiscus has a single tier of five petals. This red  variety is the national flower of Malaysia. It is robust, carries many blooms and rather disease-free so much so that at one time, it was commonly used as living hedges. Recently there seems to be a revival of  this practice.
The hibiscus flower appears to be quite cheeky with its "tongue" sticking out. 
The petals are seen peeking out, waiting to burst at the seams of the calyx.

When the hibiscus is in full bloom, the petals flare out and curve slightly backwards. The edge of the petals are frilly.  

The staminal tube comprising anthers and five-branched stigmata hangs freely down and sways with the breeze.
With their striking vermilion hue, these Hibiscus flowers overshadow the jatropa  which are so high from above and below.  

This variety has green variegated leaves. Very beautiful when they turn to yellow I just pick them up and wrap around the up-cycled pots

The numerous anthers seem to be swollen with their contents. The stigmata are covered with fine filaments. 
Later in the day the anthers burst to release fine pollens.
This bush was transported from nursery to my yard, then re-potted here in this small area where it seems to be thriving. In order to transplant this Hibiscus plant,  I had all the flowers and most of the leaves pruned off.

You don't need a green thumb to grow this one. You can easily root by clipping, waiting 2 days and then inserting in. You can make lots of babies to share with your friends. It thrives on neglect which will be just fine for most people.
