Teachings of Geeta, pious blanket

Bg 3.34: The senses naturally experience attachment and aversion to the sense objects, but do not be controlled by them, for they are way-layers and foes.

Today I spent a little time to peek into some of my articles I wrote back in …2010 and   got published later on…..

Pious Blanket

It makes me feel productive when I am sitting on sofa. I enjoy listening to the TV or music, but can’t stand just sitting doing nothing crocheting something gives me great feeling of accomplishment, especially while listening pious verses from holy granthas.

Pattern

Panda is modeling pious blanket

I made this pious blanket last year while watching TV, I guess to show you how much time is wasted sitting in front of the idiot box because I crocheted an entire ball of yarn(handmade ball of 50 gram skein)on one sitting crocheting at a stretch.
I made this blanket from the stack of wool brought by me in one lot only, without considering the size, amount I actually need to make the blanket.
So, I got this wool stock. Lots of it sufficient for two full sized blankets. I ordered it from Oswal’s, where they have a good selection of colours and weights available.
And I didn’t swatch for wool and even for pattern and also for the size.
I found the yarn and not that hard to deal with but it did take extra effort to pull it through the loops because it’s much bulky yarn and I can see if you were going to knit with it, the yarn would be a nightmare. Anyhow it’s all moot as I’ve done the blanket. I am not sure what the colour stands for but I like the colour. I search in the market for the blanket (ready- made especially Raymond Brand) in this colour, one colour only. I found light blue, pink, and plaids in Raymond Brand ….but I was intended to have this colour i.e. RGB( R6+G221+B250)…in vain…decided to crochet my own..
Texture Crochet Stitches
The alternate stitch is done on a multiple of two chains plus two for turning. Begin by making a chain length you need, turn it, and after skipping three chains (the turning chain), make two single crochet in the next chain (or stitch, in later rows). Then skip a chain (or stitch) and chain one. Repeat that to the last stitch or chain, make two single crochets in the last stitch, chain two and turn. The second row will make the two crochet stitches in the single chain spaces, and skip and chain over the two crochets in the previous row. Those two rows make up a pattern that looks something like a leaf when it’s made up.
Edgings
Make single crochet all around the edges, four single crochets at each corner. For second row of edgings make single crochet in every single crochet of the previous raw, again four single crochets in the corners, fasten off. And the blanket of my choice is complete now.
I remember when it is approximately I yard in length, on that night while watching..listening prvachana of Murari Bapu (Live) on Astha Channel till 2.00 at night I did lots of its length.
It’s crocheted mostly listening holy Bhagvad Gita.
That’s why I named it the pious blanket!
Make one and enjoy!

Its raining since last evening.

Rain is welcome for rabi crop especially in arid areas of Haryana. "chano men maavat lag gi( gram crop got irrigation) is told colloqually.

In rainy day my personal interest and best thing I like to do is to drench myself fully in the rain( but during monson season only). The second thing …I love to see the flowers and plants, because on rainy day they are more green and full of colour. I really love to sit in front of my mesh door or in front of window to watch through them and see the rainfall, stay at home.

when cement got out from the rim i wrap jute yarn around the rim throw holes poked to run the yarn through them  and again apply cement paste and put glass stones all around the rim.

BG, My Mornings

BG 3.29: Those who are deluded by the operation of the guṇas become attached to the results of their actions. But the wise who understand these truths should not unsettle such ignorant people who know very little.

Its me in morning hours

I love waking up before everyone else. It was my habit since I was a kid. Most of the values and lessons that I have learnt in life have been inculcated in me by my father.

In morning hours, it’s only me and the sun, which I get to watch slowly peek above the papri trees in front of my courtyard for it’s A.M. debut. This winter, I have made myself a new routine. For a long time my routine was little shaky, it fell somewhere between a morning person and  night-owl status. I became addicted to listen swamy sukhbodhaanand ji maharaj and doing crochet. Always going to bed a little too late and usually sleeping in just far enough
My son is also an early riser

But, if there’s any season to welcome change into your life, it’s autumn. In these transitional days before the equinox the earth is making its own adjustments, inviting us to rise with the light that arrives a few minutes earlier every day. So I’ve chosen to embrace it and allow myself to listen to the earth’s cues, and the ones inside my home.
Newspaper reading is his routine in early hours of the day
Of course, it’s not as simple as just waking up earlier; I’ve had to make adjustments to the rest of my day to account for this change. To signal to my body that the time for sleep is near, I try to shut down all electronics an hour before I go to bed, and that hour has to come a bit earlier now.
Technically, I have two alarms: one, which is set on my phone, and one who, like clockwork, gives a gentle tap tap to my face promptly at 5:45 A.M. every day. Can you guess who it might be? Rather than roll over and ignore him, I’ve decided to give in and enjoy the early morning ritual of staring far away for the health of my eyes and drinking water sip-by sip alongside him as I watch the sun rise across the papri tree.

Dawn is a different kind of dark, one full of possibility at the cusp of day, a time when it’s easy to appreciate the quiet world around you. Through waking up earlier, I’ve learned to embrace these hours and keep them just for myself. Usually I’ll sit for a bit and quietly watch the world wake up, neighbors walk their dogs and school buses rumble down the quiet streets. I’ll grab my journal and write a few lines to welcome the day ahead.
Do some pranayama yoga, drink tea, write a few lines about thankfulness to God the creator. Give the cow a scratch. These extra hours are like gold to me. Our lives are so hectic in one form or another, any time that we can set aside to just be is so valuable and rare. Make time to allow yourself to simply exist, to breathe in a new day and sit quietly. Try being a morning person and your perspective of the day ahead could change dramatically.

3.28:  O mighty-armed Arjun, illumined persons distinguish the soul as distinct from guṇas and karmas. Gardening is many things: beautiful, meditative, healthy, exciting, rewarding and creative.......

The two small pots on the wall of my front yard are marigold plants. on diwali we use many marigold flower for deco, after diwali I separate the petals and put handful of marigold petals in each and every plant container they look very beautiful then after sometime the seeds in those petals got sprout into tiny seedlings then into plants and i use to de-clutter them and transplant some other containers...these two are among them .

Nurturing a seed from a speck of dust into a mature plant takes time and persistence – two qualities that can be in short supply in our modern lives. We live in a world where there are an excessive number of distractions and people often seem to expect instant gratification. These days, I understand how it can be difficult to convince many young people that a newly emerged plant  is more interesting than a Smartphone.

BG 3.27:All activities are carried out by the three modes of material nature. But in ignorance, the soul, deluded by false identification with the body, thinks itself to be the doer.

pruned khejari tree waiting for the rainy season
