say salute to the holy places...
I wanted to go for worship at Amritsar. Because of three reasons I preferred this city. I know, there is the place where:
- · Holy Golden Temple is for worship
- · Separation point of two countries “Wagha Border” (I feel sad about it because there are some families-- Teli- the oil seed-crusher , lilgar-dyers, saudagar --who used to stuff kapok in our quilts, in our village protected by my grand parents, while there relatives are in Pakistan )
- · Jallianwallah Bagh, the place to morn about the poor fellows, ended their lives mercilessly’
We started our Journeys from our place at 5 am. We picked up Baljit kaur from Ratia on the way to Amritsar.
First we visited the holy and famous Golden Temple
The real Golden Temple with water all around and plated with Gold. It took hours to visit the Granth Sahib area. The shade on the way is visible with three pillers.
The structure in the middle of the lake is the place where the holy 'Guru Granth Saheb' is kept.
The 'Martyr's well' is where the people tried to jump in to get saved from the bullets of the English army when General Dyer blocked the only enterance to this park and
opend fire on the people who assembled to participate in a peace activity
Wagha Border:
Flags from both countries get lowered at sunset everyday. You can see Indian tricolour and the Pakistan's flag coming down diagonaly.
Once that happens, the gates get closed and the ceremony ends.
You can also see the number of people at both ends of the gate who are witnessing the show. Must visit for everybody.

Vipin and Richa posing at wagha border spot.
We were in Amritsar exactly in the morning hours !.That’s why we got an opportunity to see the entire excercise where our Jawans match and exceed the clock-work precision of the Pakistani side on wagha boarder.
Posing with the Jawans at the Wagah Border. Wagha border is about 30 Kms from the main city of Amritsar and we have our own vehicle, we hired a rickshaw which and costs about Rs. 10 per person round trip for the spot of border.
There were several other places we went, but I'm sure this is enough of the slide show. Let me just say that it was a very interesting day, and I will look at worship spaces differently from now on.
