Sticker with crochet edgings……….. Book Mark ..

 Pimp a dress sticker with a crochet lace and misc. garnish to make a beautiful Book-Mark . Here I have used Westside sticker for kids wear I had parched last year from Lajpat_Nagar,  Delhi .

DIY

For the production as the Book-Mark, you need: A sticker of any item like dress, toys etc, green yellow and red   cotton yarn, darning, crochet hook (3-3 ½), eyelet,  a long doodle for   the end. Garnish: Bead, tassels...

Start rimmed sticker with heavy stuff all the way around like in the photo below. Between holes must be min. 1.5 cm.

TIPS: Is the sticker too thick for the needle can be inserted directly through, you can either cut the holes with a hole punch pliers, e.g. punching holes with a hammer and an electricity. or the like.

1^st   round: Using green yarn Make one Single crochet through a hole then chain 5 all around the sticker, remember to make two single crochets in each corner.

2^nd  round: using red yarn 2 single crochet and 2 chains in chain 5 space.

3^rd  round: using yellow yarn make 1 single crochet and one chain in each chain 2 space, fasten off.

Finally tie 6 strand each of red and yellow yarn of 12 inch length  at the center of the one narrow edge of trims weave strands into doodles insert a bead at the end and make tassel using left over 1/2 inch strands.

IMPORTANT! At the corners you need to crochet a little more  chins  (in the same space), so lace edge not freak the book mark .Experiment MHT how many extra stitches to be, so lace border is fine smooth.

In place of stickers where you have to take them as such you can use  wedding cards , you can use all sorts of  glossy hard and thick cards by cutting them in the size of stickers , their size s are appropriate for the book marks.

 If you choose for example, Clippings from magazines, then stick them up first on cardboard so that they become stable. And so it is, as always, only your imagination sets the limits for the result, as for playing with designs, yarns and decorations!

Ideas For Empty Tins,Craft Knife

Here is an idea on what you can do to recycle or reuse those metal tins of protein/ milk your recycling man may not take or take as scrap pieces.

After making these two hook nestles it seems to me that I never showed you photos of these up cycled tin hook staking bins after they are photographed.

How I could have forgotten to do this is a mystery, since this is a project of which I am over-proud. If pride were a sin, I am doomed. Ohooo!. In my studio I love to make them into beautiful objects to house my hooks.

These bright tins transformed into beautiful objects and are the perfect place because I can fit many hooks in each, I make one for aluminum crochet hooks and the other for the steel crochet hooks. I bought a craft knife today Here is a link for craft knife inspiration. xoxo

 I want to tell on the day of International Poly Bag Free Day that do not use poly bags, if there are old poly bags then how to use them

Poly bag  yarn mats

I experimented old craft with this new material........or you can say old craft adapted new material. I used the thrify way of my grandmaa’s generation to use rags. Likewise I  usedup the naughty poly bags that were used to pack, grout, white cement, putty, plaster of paris or the construction material used during my house renovationand reconstruction.

Here the concept of grandmaa’s braiding scraps still used, but the material is definitely modern and and really nuision for the environment. Plastic bags have taken their share of blame for landfill problems, recycling problems and other environmental concerns.it seems that once they’r made and in your possession you can’t just throw them out without some guilt. There’s a solution to that problem!

You can make Poly bag mat out of them write!

Did you know plastic bag yarn is termed as “plarn”!!

To make use of poly bags..i.e. any type of plastic bag may be hard, stiff, brisk...you can handle a stiff yarn by cutting very narrow  strips of stiff plastic bags and taking them two-three strips together for one strip of braid or for crocheting with them.

First step for making use of plastic is.....

Make your Plarn first.

 You can braid with as many strips you can handle. 

Three-strand is the simplest one, for best results consider the following steps.

• Take two strips of plarn for one strip of braid i.e. in total six strips.

• Start with eight or nine feet of strips at one time to avoid them to be tangled.

• Mentally number strips from one to three, from left to right, then begin braiding.

• Pass strips three over center strip two and under strip number one. Continue thissame procedure until three of four yards are braided, then begin making ball of the braid.

 Here's how to go about it:

• Cut off the handles and the bottom of the bag.

• Cut straight across the bag, making a loop about an inch wide.

• Tie three loops together at one end, so that you can braid them together.

The round mat

•  Slip this over the spindle on your sewing machine or a chair rung or anything that will hold it steady. Try to even the ends of all three pieces.

• Start braiding these together firmly, but not so firmly that the braid twists or curls when released.

• When you have a braid of about three or four feet, start with a strip of 6 to 12 inches, then coil the rest of the braid around that.

•  Using a blunt needle (darning needle), tie a piece of sturdy string or fishing line (floss works well!) onto the beginning of the braid and begin to sew the coil together.

•  Use a lacing stitch, going back and forth between the inner coil and the one you're sewing it on to.

• Slip the finished part over the table and braid some more, then repeat the process.

• When your mat is  as big as you want it, begin tapering off by cutting narrower loops and braiding them into the mat. Take the last bit of braid and tuck it under the last coil, sewing it down firmly.

You're done.

 The ovel mat is great for the bathroom, kitchen, garden, patio or as a doormat -

 wherever water is found. When it gets dirty, rinse it under running water.the round

 mat on table is placemat for tables,dinningtables, etc.. 

Plastic yarn wrapped plant pot

 I wrapped some braided yarn  around an old plastic paint box and made a 

plant  pot,where my coladium plant is smiling.

 

 For these items I used lots of plastic bags

I was cleaning up for my daughter  and wondering around with this art piece of mine

 in hand trying to find a place for it, when quite by accident I placed it under this up

 cycled  pot and voila, a great combination was born! So my friends, do save broken

 pitchers to use under plants, and do apply some mosaic skill  to them with tile

 pieces, or if you want to go the whole route, you can do something really

 permanent with plaster of paris. There really isn't anything much simpler  that can

 give you so much visual pleasure and add a little personal touch to your container

 garden! And you can trust me by now, right?

बेहतर उपाय...

देखिये .......यह हैं मेरे दो जाँ सिपाही... मेरे घर की रखवाली करने वाले दो पौधे...साथ ही यह दोनों मेहमानों का स्वागत भी करते है,...

इन दोनों बड़े गमलों को मैंने बड़ी टूटी बाल्टियों पर बचे-खुचे तायल के तुकडे चिपका कर और ग्रोउट से भर कर ऊपर से स्कैच पैन से आउटिंग कर ऊपर से वार्निश कर दिया ...मुझे अपने दो बड़े पौधों के लिये बड़े गमले चाहियें थे ....सीमेंट के गमले बहुत भारी हो जाते तब मैंने टूटी बाल्टियोंऔर अन्य सामान के साथ इन गमलों को बनाया.

इस गमले में थूजा का पौधा है...इसे मैंने करीब १०-११ वर्ष पहले छोटे गमले में लगाया था...
और ऊपर इसमें जटरोपा का पौधा है..यह ७-८ वर्ष पहले मैंने छोटे गमले में लगाया था..
इसे बाद में मैंने ऊपर से रिम पर और ग्राउट लगाया और फ़िर स्कैच पैन से आउटिंग कर के ऊपर से दो कोट वार्निश कर दी...

देखिये ऊपर और नीचे की तास्विरें........इ ऊपर की रिम से कितनी दुरुस्त हो गई है...

इस बाल्टी का रिम बिलकुल टूट गया था मैंने बाल्टी की रिम पर एक मोटी सुई लेकर इसे गर्म कर जगह -जगह छेद किये और एक पानी की बेकार पड़ी ट्यूब के बीच मेंचिर लगा कर इसे रिम में फिट कर दिया,। और फ़िर इसे बोरी के तुकडे से फेविकोल से चिपकाया और फ़िर तार से सिल दिया.. सभी बेकार चीजें यानी कि बोरी का टुकड़ा, टूटी पुरानी ट्यूब, टूटी ताय्लने और टूटी बालटी का सही उपयोग कर सुन्दर गमले बन गये..
यह देखिये ज़रा नजदीक से कितना सुन्दर और टिकाऊ गमला बन गया है....

There’s something profoundly loving in the act of knitting. Into each and every stitch you can breathe love into a piece of fabric. And people always look so loved wrapped up into a warm cosy piece of knitting.

This gloriously white lacy piece of knitting is my honey shawl.Hisar city  has been unseasonably cool this time in this month  and I found myself at the beginning of February itching to knit something for me. Just for me. Something that I loved that was all mine and unapologetically so.  I will post the photo of the hawal in next post ..

My grand daughter, recycling of plastic bottles

 I have a beautiful and smart granddaughter. I love just spending time with her. I could just share my breakfast or read a book to her while she sits on my lap. It was fun to sit on the floor trying to teach her to roll a ball, or to go to the park and play with her and see the wonder in her eyes. It really doesn't matter what we do. I was soooo lucky to have had the chance to babysit her all the time. I hope through my enthusiasm and love of life, love of adventure, and love of learning, to give her that same encouragement in her life that she as a girl, young lady and woman can do anything she sets her mind to. Yup, that's what I'd like to impart to her, woman to woman!

best out of waste

last 3-4 months were very hectic for me, as the work of renovation was going on in my house. it was a long.....long...........awaited work which was pending since last 2-3 years.when the deterioration was at its best...we took on it..

thus begun the hectic time for me.....i used to collect every bit of waste deserted by tile work, plumbing, wood work, painting, from masonry work and so,,,,,,,,on..

here is one sample!!!!!!! work in progress.........

i glued the left over wall tiles on the waste bucket...which was used to its best.....for years...companion since a long broken from the rims....renovated....broken its handles....renovated....at last i decided to make garden tool out of it ...it's a large bucket to accomodate a big house plant...right!!!!

see the wall tiles which were deserted by the mason on work...they were in plenty. i was not able to make the mason to mount them on rough surface of open veranda. he refused to work on them......tit-bits are not upto his standard...he can only process the new ones...

Then what?

i made several uses of them!!!
Here is the one....i will share the final verson later on....and the method for it too!!!!

Front door tree, cool white of Summer

Salvaged book rack 

I love changing a few things when summer finally arrives. We leave doors open during the day, I used to Rome bare foot  in and out feeling very  cool while walking, the leaves rustle in the warm breeze and I don’t want to miss a minute of it.  

 Adding a change of color using hanging mobiles, flowers in bottle or vase etc.etc.which  can help transition the room from one season to the next.  Out with my sunny colourful  pillow covers of winter and spring and in with these cool cream  and white patchwork. I think they add a nice fresh look for the oncoming warm days.

Like I’ve said before, pillow covers are such an easy way to change the look of your room.  I guess I’ve always loved the clean look of navy  blue and white because when I looked through my fabric stash I came up with these favorite fabrics. I made up simple 20 x20'” squares with a zipper for easy on/easy off. A handful of Champa leaves from the front yard and my room feels fresh and cool. Let the sunshine in!
