Sticker with crochet edgings……….. Book Mark ..

Pimp a dress sticker with a crochet lace and misc. garnish to make a beautiful Book-Mark . Here I have used Westside sticker for kids wear I had parched last year from Lajpat_Nagar,  Delhi .

Sticker Book-Mark with  crochet border ...

DIY

For the production as the Book-Mark, you need: A sticker of any item like dress, toys etc, green yellow and red   cotton yarn, darning, crochet hook (3-3 ½), eyelet,  a long doodle for   the end. Garnish: Bead, tassels...
Start rimmed sticker with heavy stuff all the way around like in the photo below. Between holes must be min. 1.5 cm.
TIPS: Is the sticker too thick for the needle can be inserted directly through, you can either cut the holes with a hole punch pliers, e.g. punching holes with a hammer and an electricity. or the like.
Edge image with green yarn
1st   round: Using green yarn Make one Single crochet through a hole then chain 5 all around the sticker, remember to make two single crochets in each corner.
2nd  round: using red yarn 2 single crochet and 2 chains in chain 5 space.
3rd  round: using yellow yarn make 1 single crochet and one chain in each chain 2 space, fasten off.
Finally tie 6 strand each of red and yellow yarn of 12 inch length  at the center of the one narrow edge of trims weave strands into doodles insert a bead at the end and make tassel using left over 1/2 inch strands.
IMPORTANT! At the corners you need to crochet a little more  chins  (in the same space), so lace edge not freak the book mark .Experiment MHT how many extra stitches to be, so lace border is fine smooth.
*************
In place of stickers where you have to take them as such you can use  wedding cards , you can use all sorts of  glossy hard and thick cards by cutting them in the size of stickers , their size s are appropriate for the book marks.

If you choose for example, Clippings from magazines, then stick them up first on cardboard so that they become stable. And so it is, as always, only your imagination sets the limits for the result, as for playing with designs, yarns and decorations!

अपना बैग लेकर बाज़ार जाऐं

The time during which I really should be doing something but am just too unfocused. After all, the celebrations aren't really over. A New Year is on its way. So, all blog posts until then will be from my another blog. I am drinking hot cups of chai, cutting myself a slice of cake, puttering around the house, shifting a painting here and hanging one there, watching a movie or two (Sherlock Holmes was great, Avatar is next) and taking tons of pictures of my everyday with my camera. How are YOU spending your time?

Loving crochet
I started crocheting when I was in grade II. My neighbor friends  all had their projects about crochet for their Home Science  class and I just can’t wait to try.
My mother was my first teacher. She taught me how to make a single chain.
It was fun and it was (I then thought) easy so I asked her to teach me more. And so I learned other basic stitches but I cannot make something pretty and usable… Almost all my first works were circular since I cannot make uniform stitches.
Our neighbor taught me how to make the granny square. It was then I thought that I could make my own patterns and motifs then attach them with another…
Up to now, I enjoy crocheting… It relieves me of tensions and frustrations.. I’ve done several projects before and I have given them to friends and relatives.. I keep my recent ones, though…

Mats

Blocking makes a big difference to these little numbers. You see how they're all curled up in the photo Here ? The ones at the front have been blocked by laying a damp tea towel over each one, and pressing with a warm iron.

क्रोशिया काम....

Frugal ways for home deco

I save bottles and tins  for vases from  whisky and the stuff (eatables, paint, varnish cans)  I am addicted to, they make great gifts if you’re taking someone flowers, and an easy way to have a deco, with colour ful vase at home, with the flowers you had in your yard  a stuff(fabric ,upcycled burlop yarn)your choice wrapped around it.

Just to be a little bit different how about using an Thermos flask with an a plant(in plastic bottle) in it like the below example.
This was my Thermos in-olden times i cut the upper part of plastic bottle planted a plant in it unscrewed the flask placed the plant bottle in it and screwed the Thermos flask back. What a beautiful deco? isn't it

this is plarn braidedwrapped empty paint tin

Jatropa flower in the whisky/beer bottle

Niche with plants

flower bottle placed on oval shaped braided mat

Beautiful jetropa flowers

I wrapped up-cycled burlap twine on these empty tins and filled them with soil to plant indoor  plants

I cut a big branch with flowers and placed it in the water-filled beer bottle......

Done and done. Simple, colorful table decor complete that won't lose it's pedals after about a week

Lovely use of both glass bottle and empty Thermos flask and empty tins and plastic container to get a really cottage vintage theme going on.

Such a versatile material and great to put those old bottles, flasks and tins to good use!
What do you think of these ideas? Do you have your own pictures to share? I would love to hear from you….Do  write in comment box.

The pious day of Ram Navami and Nav Ratri…and ME

The birth of Lord Sree Rama is celebrated as Sree Rama Navami, yesterday on 1st April,2012. .The ninth day of Chaitra month celebrates Sree Rama Navami, the last day day of Vasantha Navaratri.Lord Rama is considered as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is known for his compassion for human beings.Sree Rama is born to King Dasaratha and Queen Kausalya of Ayodhya.

Navami, ninth day of the Chaitra month of Hindu Calendar. Thus it is also known as Chiatra Shukla Paksha Navami and marks the end of nine-day Chiatra Navratri celebartions.

At some places, the festival lasts the whole nine days of N avratras, thus the period is called,'Sree Rama Navaratra'.It is marked by continuous recitals,Akhand Paath, mostly of the Ramacharitamanas, organised several days before to culminate on this day, with elaborate bhajan, keertan and distribution of prasad after pooja and aarti.Images of infant Lord Sree Rama are placed in cradles and rocked by the devotees…for further reading click HERE

NAVARATRI("Nava" + "ratri") literally means "nine nights." This ritual is observed twice a year, in spring and in autumn. "Vasanta Navaratri" or Spring Navaratri is nine days of fast and worship that Hindus undertake during spring every year. This festival is observed twice a year, once in the beginning of summer and again at the onset of winter. "The Divine Mother or Devi is worshipped during the Vasanta Navaratri. This occurs during the spring. She is worshipped by her own command. Significance of Navratri?

During Navaratri, we invoke the energy aspect of God in the form of the universal mother, commonly referred to as "Durga," which literally means the remover of miseries of life. She is also referred to as "Devi" (goddess) or "Shakti" (energy or power). It is this energy, which helps God to proceed with the work of creation, preservation and destruction. In other words, you can say that God is motionless, absolutely changeless, and the Divine Mother Durga, does everything. Truly speaking, our worship of Shakti re-confirms the scientific theory that energy is imperishable. It cannot be created or destroyed. It is always there. for rest of the article click …..HERE
