its me with my sitar, nostalgia.

I BOUGHT THIS SITAR WHEN I WAS IN 11TH CLASS IN FC COLLEGE HISAR, MUSIC WAS MY SUBJECT THEN. I BOUGHT IT FROM DELHI, I GOT IT REPAIRED FROM THE VERY SHOP FROM WHERE I BOUGHT IT...
MOM and me

I play sitar since I was in class11, now I’m 66 and in the last 3 years I started to study more seriously and became very interested in matter of instrument maintenance.
my niece

There are no real hangers for sitars like there are for guitars, mainly because there is no flange on the head-stock for this type of mounting, and little carelessness make it break ..

With a sitar come many technical challenges that must be mastered in order to keep the instrument in good condition. BUT I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO PRACTISE THIS RULE...... Maintenance requires courage and ritualistic commitment—you will bleed, but you will come away a deeper understanding of what your instrument needs to sound its best. It is an important part of the practice, and will lead to a better understanding of how to achieve the best sound from your instrument.

Nostelgia

You never know what I will be posting on my blog because I have such eclectic thoughts, interests, and ideas...so, if you have a minute, please stop-by

Do certain fragrances take you back in time? Bring back a memory that you cherish? I have a few scents that do this for me. My favorite color is green and it just so happens that I also love the fruit with this same color greener shade of an orange !!Yes the MALTA. Every time that I peel an orange MALTA the citrusy scent of that orange sends me back to my childhood.
My nanu had a Malt Garden full of flashy pulped maltaas, there were other fruits like, guvavas, peaches, grapes and some more.

It is no secret to those that know me that I love to read and that books have always been a part of my life. When I was in school(Shishu vihar Hindi High School, Limda Lane, Jamnagar, Gujarat India) at Jamnagar,Gujrat. I had a "best friend" named Liticia who lived on the next block. She also loved books and she, like me, enjoyed getting lost in its pages. Our favorite books were the Ghost and fairy stories. I would borrow hers and she would borrow mine. This way we were able to share these wonderful mysteries together.
We always read in her small living room curled up in front of the electric heater  in winter , the kind with the coils that curled up to the wooden rod   and then vented through the wall. This stove heated her family's whole tiny two room house. Our treat, as we read, were always Malta oranges. We both loved and regarded Maltas  as the best treat in the whole world! After we peeled our Maltas we would lay the peels on the  the top of the table nearby . As they dried from the heat of the hater, the luscious scent of Maltas filled the room. Life was good when you could read Ghost and Fairy  mysteries while eating maltas curled up on a rug in front of a  heater.

Nostalgia with Baby Rehana

The Doctor  described her as “beautiful girl”(bade dinon baad ek sundar bchhaa dikha hai ) –  she had a beautiful rosy glow, and normal body weight and length .   She checked out fine every time they looked her over, as she was on powdered milk for 24 hours, due to cesarean delivery.  So for one blissful period of 24 hours, that’s what we believed. After 24 hours she sucked her mother’s milk.  That we had been miraculously given a perfectly healthy baby,   being told she might have  minor Thalassemia  from her mother.

nostelgia with renovation

I felt nostalgic on seeing these pictures stored in a folder in my computer. Of course this was the renovation phase of our house. Very hectic period! And later very fruitful too!

Here's a "during" picture.  It can feel sooo overwhelming when you're knee deep in a renovation process.  You have to hold onto the dream and keep your focus.  Just keep saying, "It's going to be worth it, it's going to be worth it!"

some organization here!

Indeed, it was!  The flooring was done in a beautiful marble and granite tile.  My son also decided to tile all the kitchen walls with white rusty tile for a nice, clean look.

No more chamelies(Jasmine), nostelgia pics

A great damage to my chameli (Jasmine) plant after these pics below.

No more Chmeli until next year..... I will really miss their pure white color. For the rest of the winter, I'll have to find my flower joy on the jugs and vases that seem to litter my shelves.  OOOOH get that pattern and texture love somehow.

The spiritual foot prints

I read this Quotation this morning
And I became nostalgic remembering the words of….

Quote
1….. my auncle(village man)…..cocommented on the the steps of me and my sis while walking towards our Bitoda ….he commented…..both of you are walking with march past steps and your steps are so silent that nobody can have  a traces of your steps….
2…..when I was living in pg during my graduation…my landlady asked me that her husband is so much apreciates you  …he says this girl is so sincere and her movements are worth seeing her steps are slow and unnoticeable….she is early riser and worth trusted girl….
3…one of my mother’s friend from our village….once said …”some people in the street were talking about you girls….”these girls walk graciously and worty of respect”..
Any how it looks I am in self praising mood today….but it’s not self praising …………but these are the openion about you by other people…. These are the openion of others accumulated in my journey through life…actually the reach of my mind is wide, and sometimes even little deep. Some time like my Grand ma (my father’s aunt) I contradict myself. Sometime I wax eloquent. Sometime I fall on my face. Why not do it in public?
As for as the quatation is concerned I think you can extend this to include other ways in which we leave footprints in our lives.

Obviously, there is the physical footprint, of how heavy your real foot lands on the Earth and how it can damage what exists; or how lightly you can tread on the ground.

But could it also mean that your footprint can leave a path behind - to lead the way for others, perhaps? Do you choose to travel (footloose and fancy free?) or do you choose to stand still?

Then, there is a spiritual footprint. What kind of mark do you leave on people when you connect with them? How do you choose to relate to them and communicate with them? What kind of mark do you want to leave in this world? Each one of our choices (from the food we eat; to the clothes we wear; to the things we do with our time) has an impact.

How gentle are you?

I read this Quotation this morning.........

When we walk like (we are running) we print anxiety and sorrow on the earth. We have to walk in a way that we only print peace and serenity on the earth….Be aware of the contact between your feet and the earth. Walks as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.
