Christmas decorations

I am so excited to share the two special Christmas decorations I made myself.

For my first piece, I crafted this unique wall hanging using a green tinsel garland to create the shape of a modern, space-saving Christmas tree. I carefully wove in strands of fairy lights and decorated it with classic red and green baubles and gold bells to add a warm, festive glow. This was my way of bringing the traditional Christmas spirit into my home in a new and personal way.

My second decoration is this beautiful, large decorative camel figurine which I placed next to a warm, Moroccan-style lantern. I was drawn to the intricate, hand-painted details that reflect traditional Indian artistry. I learned that in Vastu, a camel statue is a symbol of endurance and perseverance, which brings good luck and protection from negative energies to the home. It adds such an exotic and meaningful charm to my festive setup. The whole process was made even more special because my 11-year-old granddaughter was sitting nearby watching me the entire time. When the pieces were finally finished, she was absolutely delighted! She immediately started showing them to her friends, proudly saying, "Look what my grandma made this Christmas!" That made all the effort worthwhile. I truly enjoyed making these pieces and love how they incorporate both traditional Christmas colours and unique cultural elements into my seasonal decor, and the joy they brought my granddaughter. Dining Room Table Makeovers

There are so many different things you can do to revive an old table.  Take a look at these fresh ideas for a table makeover!  Here are just a few of my favorites.

•             Dress up a round table with a floor-length table cloth and a glass top. Add seat covers to the chairs.

•             For an eclectic look, collect a group of mismatched yet coordinating chairs to add some spunk to your dining room.

•             Get creative with paint—add a pop of color to your kitchen or dining room by giving your kitchen table a fresh coat of colorful paint. You could paint just the legs, just the top, or the whole table. If bright colors aren’t your thing, a new coat of white, black, or neutral color can freshen up the room too!

•             If you really want something bold and eye-catching, try stenciling designs on the table top.

•             Start from scratch and build your dining room table from the ever-amazing PALETTE!

•             Don’t forget you can freshen up the dining room table without replacing or refurbishing it. You can add table top accessories like table cloths, table runners, and centerpieces,flower arrangements.

Festivity with flower wall hanging

 

 I am feeling very happy today for a number of reasons. Firstly, because I completed my project at night (2:00AM) ,secondly I have just finished drinking a lovely cup of hot tea with newly bought  tulsi leaves  and

have relaxed on the sofa for the morning hours  with my crochet basket at my feet, drag this hanging I made 2 years ago using Lucy's flower on the Attic 24 blog  to hang it on the wall again for this festivity(previously it stayd on wall for 2-3 months then it was stored in the basket). I have finished this blog post and also because I have finally finished my crochet Happy Flower.

Finally its found the place here

  I crocheted it making alterations immediately and the  stiffened part was not required  then I sat in my store  room waiting to be strung together for a good few days, then I strung it HERE, HERE and  now it is again ready to beautify the wall and it is just soooo, well, HAPPY.

Yes! Its amazing Giant yellow Squash growing in our front  park from the Compost pile.It is huge!

This is summer Squash .Yellow Squash flowers bloom on yellow summer squash. These flowers are not only beautiful to look at; they are functional as well. Both squash and yellow Squash flowers have been a nutritious part of the diet in many cultures for hundreds of years. 

You can eat squash flowers raw in salads or battered and fried. In Bangali families, squash blossoms are eaten stuffed in pakoras.

 I became nostalgic, wonderful huge plant with huge flowers. Iv remembered my childhood in the Jamnagar. Those garden squashes of our house garden. Bose aunt frequently asking for yellow squash blooms for pakoraas...the squash curry yammy with missi rotties in summer.I guess even the whole creeper is the same

There are proverbs about distribution of rains during the year.

Four month do not need even a rain of gold (mid November to mid- December, chaitra(mid-March to mid-April),vaisakha(mid-April  to mid-May) and jyestha(mid-May to mid June). Except for these four months, rain is desirable in all the other months of the year.

For some unknown reason people except the monsoons to break over  Bombay by tenth of y June. The onset of winter rain is calculated as following a hundred days after the end of the summer monsoon.

Despite the summer rains being monsoon, it is the short winter rain that Haryanvi farmer prizes more.’ winter rain is gold, hadha (June -July) rains silver, and sawan-bhado (July-September), mere copper, says a proverb. ‘If there is a spell of rain in margasirsa(mid-November to mid-December) the wheat will have healthy colour. there are parallel proverbs instructing farmers what to do during winter monsoon months:’if you do not plough your land in hadha you will be like a dry swan and a child who learnt nothing to school.’ if it rains on Diwali (the festival of lamps that falls early in November) the sluggard will be more abundant.’

My living room these days...........And...a lovely couple!

 
That's my son, whose WHOLE-TIME SHOW-ROOM business on the WOOD LAND started this whole thing. Here he is back on the Connaught place ( several tours after the business)with his lovely fiancée!

Yes my little son got engaged just after the opening ceremony of his show room and is getting married at the end of April.   Mazel tov! (congratulations)

(And yes, that is mobile phone cozy in his hand I made for his fiancée-- NOT meeting regulation.)

blooms, i will do it, a quote ............

 

As spring sprung up in India from the day of basant panchami, since spring I  have been breeding my vases with flower heads precariously sitting on top.

I've tried explaining to the girls at our ngo centre  the virtues of enjoying the flowers in the garden, where they're happiest.

 

I've even gone the route of asking that if they must pick the flowers, perhaps pulling further down their stem would be best so I don't have to fill the vases to the top just so the poor, wilted flower head can drink some water. There has been limited success with this notion.

Either way, you're pretty much guaranteed around our house that there will be little vases of flowers striving to bloom after being plucked, played with and eventually brought inside to live out what life they may have left in them.

Log candle stand for ..........

The newest addition to my  Candle Holder Collection! This split log candle holder is made from the fallen tree branch at my front yard and it makes a great addition to my frant yard window sill  or table setting.




Rustic decor appeals to those who have a love of the great outdoors. This style of decor is hand made usingfrom the earth. The idea is to use these elements to create art and decor that resembles how the materials used look in their natural environment. A room filled with rustic decor emanates the soothing energy of natural surroundings.

I will make candles with 100% pure beeswax to place in this log candle stand. Nothing adds more warmth and charm to a home than the simple, rustic beauty of natural wood.

This candle holder is made from  the  fallen on our front yard in our house at Hisar, Haryana,india. 
I call my handyman to create a lodcandle stand for me and he made it veryskillfully using his tools and expertise.Here in Hisar he never made this type of candle stand in his life as told by him! Anyway he created it perfectly. and i'm so happy! waiting for a festival or any occasion to place my handmade candles in the groves createdon the log. ....the candle holder groves measures 1.5 inches in diameter and 1 inches deep.

I know Turmaric  has several medicinal values but i tasted the haldi/milk  recently and it tasted good ...really i love it ...My mom always used to drink haldi vala dudh but i didn't notice means i never tried it to drink myself...it is with Dr KM that i dare to taste.........After all she is a Doctor and an experienced person there is something meaningful in all her deeds..........thats why i decided to make it my regular habit to drink milk with haldi........
