Blocking
is the second most exciting part of crocheted doilies. The piece is
finally pinned out and drying and all you can do is stare in amazement at what
just came off your crochet needles. Then you give thanks for the miracle
of blocking, because before this step, your dolly was a lumpy, shapeless mess.
At the same time, your happiness is checked by a sense of dread as you
wonder what this will look like on a human being. Will it be ethereal and
elegant, or just a giant doily?
