colour Red for Boys

There was a time when I used to stitch my own dresses. I also sewed dresses for my  children myself. besides, I used to sew dress of children's of my sisters and brothers with great interest. I used to send my sewed, crocheted and knitted dresses for different magazines and newspapers for publication.they all got published when they were kids.

colour Red for Boys

early years of my son's dresses were mostly red shirts in different colours

history says..... ' in the 18th-19th c., the color red was much more associated with English boys than blue. It was considered a properly masculine color, and one with strong military overtones as well as the color for hunting. As soon as a boy was breeched – dressed in male adult-style clothing instead of the unisex white gowns of babies – bright red usually made an appearance in his wardrobe. Later in the 19th c., when color first was used in infant clothing, pink, as the lesser version of red, was the color for boys, while girls were dressed in pale blue. (For more about gender-dressing by color, see this article from Smithsonian.)

crochet doily

I have become doily crazy over the last few weeks and am experimenting.  I have had this one for 2 years half done but have been put off making it into complete doily because of lack of this yarn I used it somewhere else .then I found the matching yarn in a bag - it turned out be one of the most satisfying projects in a long time and really didn't take long. I just used the yarn of this project in making a lace of sheet and deserted it in incomplete projects box it laid there for 2 years scolding me, I love pineapple stitches so much that rushed to make it for anything, bag, purse, pillowcase bottle- cover etc etc……

Next day I crocheted this butterfly doily

अपना बैग लेकर बाज़ार जाऐं

The time during which I really should be doing something but am just too unfocused. After all, the celebrations aren't really over. A New Year is on its way. So, all blog posts until then will be from my another blog. I am drinking hot cups of chai, cutting myself a slice of cake, puttering around the house, shifting a painting here and hanging one there, watching a movie or two (Sherlock Holmes was great, Avatar is next) and taking tons of pictures of my everyday with my camera. How are YOU spending your time?

I learnt about British and American crochet language. Now, just for fun, throw Afrikaans into the mix - the terms are totally unrelated to the English counterparts. And for more fun, try Dutch, 'cause that where Afrikaans comes from, and no one can blame you if you want to throw your hands into the air and run away.

I taught the ignorant crochet members  that crochet has a back and front

I started blogging about my adventure, and in the process learnt so much from great ladies around the world, who are generous with their patterns and advice, not to mention inspiration.

And with a member of our NGO and fellow Haryanvi lady Ved kaur.

I started a crochet group with all the trainees in our NGO sewing class, which are now 142 members strong.  What a joy that is!
XOXO
