My own Bra Pattern

When I was a kid my mom used to sew her bra herself. Later she sewed a few bra’s for me too….Later on I myself did some modifications over my mom’s bra’s.
Now  I decided to learn more about bra construction and make the basic bra with crochet hook and yarn. I found a great pattern from Kusine.com!

Having crocheted  the cups of my crochet bra, I started to construct my own bra band and straps based on reading various bra sewing tutorials. The best one I found was Lenna’s Sewing. Another excellent resource is The Pattern School.

Happy crocheting!

Sunburst mirror

This is so pretty and simple. It would take a while to make but those of us whole like repetitive stuff would totally get into it. See the tutorial featured at the blog MeiJo’s Joy on how to make a cardboard tube and sequin mirror.

Women of Hope, planter

Morley is a composer, songwriter, singer and activist. Recently she sangWomen of Hope at TedxWomen. It is a song inspired by Aung San Suu Kyi‘, and is a wonderful reminder to us all that those who never lose hope can indeed change the world around them.
The clip featured on TED includes images of a number of women who have made a difference in the world.
Morley ‘s words about the song……
This is a song that I wrote after watching a CNN program on Women and war. There are three vignettes; the first is in Rwanda, the second in Mexico, Somalia and Tibet and the third is in Burma. I quote Aung San Suu Kyi…when her people asked her for a message, saying how helpless they feel under military rule, she responded by saying, “If you’re feeling helpless, help someone“. This moved me because it is so brilliant of her to empower her people like that, I found so much inspiration and truth in her words that it got me thinking of all the countless women of hope.
Spend five minutes of your day listening – you’ll be glad you did. :)

(Here is the  lyrics below the clip, in case you’d like to read them.)
They stood together under a tree in tall grass on TV telling the world their story
We will be left to wander and fade away, soldiers came and took our husbands at the break of day
We will live on then fade away, soldiers came and killed our children at the break of day
I believe the almighty knows each and every one by your name
Women of hope, women of change, women of love, joy, no shame
You’ve got something this little life can never take away
Oh lord won’t you give them a shining armor of light, Oh lord won’t you give them a shining armor of light
Daybreak brings the sign of new life, with the power to stand
Crossing the border she said you will grow free on this land
I can feel your power in these words she said:
If you’re feeling helpless, help someone If you’re feeling helpless, help someone
Nobody knows how far they will go to keep on giving and forgiving
Under house arrest, for her peaceful protest! When her people ask her, for a message she said:
If you’re feeling helpless, help someone
people of love, joy, no shame
I believe the almighty knows each and every one by your name

Women of hope, women of change, women of war and pain,
Running through the darkness of night with her child by her side
Women of hope, women of change, women of war and pain
Nobody really knows how far they will go to keep on living
Aung San Suu Kyi living under house arrest for her peaceful protest
If you’re feeling helpless, help someone
People of hope, people of change

We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.

Frugal ways for home deco

I save bottles and tins  for vases from  whisky and the stuff (eatables, paint, varnish cans)  I am addicted to, they make great gifts if you’re taking someone flowers, and an easy way to have a deco, with colour ful vase at home, with the flowers you had in your yard  a stuff(fabric ,upcycled burlop yarn)your choice wrapped around it.

Just to be a little bit different how about using an Thermos flask with an a plant(in plastic bottle) in it like the below example.
This was my Thermos in-olden times i cut the upper part of plastic bottle planted a plant in it unscrewed the flask placed the plant bottle in it and screwed the Thermos flask back. What a beautiful deco? isn't it

this is plarn braidedwrapped empty paint tin

Jatropa flower in the whisky/beer bottle

Niche with plants

flower bottle placed on oval shaped braided mat

Beautiful jetropa flowers

I wrapped up-cycled burlap twine on these empty tins and filled them with soil to plant indoor  plants

I cut a big branch with flowers and placed it in the water-filled beer bottle......

Done and done. Simple, colorful table decor complete that won't lose it's pedals after about a week

Lovely use of both glass bottle and empty Thermos flask and empty tins and plastic container to get a really cottage vintage theme going on.

Such a versatile material and great to put those old bottles, flasks and tins to good use!
What do you think of these ideas? Do you have your own pictures to share? I would love to hear from you….Do  write in comment box.
